county_sr
The Multnomah County Health Department and Street Roots Community Newspaper have released a report regarding homeless deaths in 2011.

The report, Domicile Unknown, reveals that one person experiencing homelessness died nearly every week last year in Multnomah County. This is the first review by the Multnomah County and Oregon State Examiner regarding the deaths of those without shelter.

The average age of death was 45, with 18 being the youngest and 68 the oldest. The report shows “accidental death,” including intoxication and trauma, as the leading cause of death. According to the report, the numbers represent only a portion of all deaths among individuals experiencing homelessness; the total doesn't include homeless people who were in a hospital or under medical care when they died.
