The It List: The Top 10 Things in Portland and the World

it list
Each week our culture scientists rank their 10 favorite things in the universe. The resulting list is infallible. The list is perfect. If you don't agree with the list, you are wrong. Some items may stay atop the list for weeks, others may only make a brief appearance. Some items are Portland-centric, but only because Portland is at the center of the universe. Please do not write to us, asking for the metrics behind the list. We will not provide source material. We will not be swayed. Bow down to the list. Love the list, as the list loves all things. Let the list move through you. (And, you know, if you have suggestions for the list, stick them in the comments section below.)

1. PDX 671's linechen gollai
The surprise favorite dish at Eat Mobile was spinach in coconut milk. But, like, so much better.
2. The NBA post-season

3. Fez
Like a cross between Metroid and Mario with totally mind-bending twists. This Xbox 360 arcade game frustrates the hell out of us, but it's gorgeous and strange and like nothing else we've ever played.

4. Scoop
The little cart may not have overwrought choreography, vintage knicknacks on the walls or the endorsement of Oprah—unlike a certain overhyped Portland shop—but damn they make good ice cream.
While we're on a food cart kick: one of our favorites (and the runner-up for both people's choice and judges' choice carty awards at Eat Mobile on the weekend), Lardo, is becoming a real boy.

Interesting probably only to other journalists, but this is a neat little publication, and it's free, and this is shit other journalists need to get cosy with if they want to have jobs in five years.

7. Oregon Ice Works
Holding strong on the list for a second week (down two places from #5) after a good showing at Eat Mobile.

8. Front porches
After moving four times in as many years, we finally moved into a house that has one this week. We may never actually go inside the place.

9. "Uff da!"
It's a phrase you can use when things go wrong! It means "oh shit!"

10. Sea lions
They're eatin' up all our fish, but they're super cute.
