Each week our culture scientists rank their 10 favorite things in the universe. The resulting list is infallible. The list is perfect. If you don't agree with the list, you are wrong. Some items may stay atop the list for weeks, others may only make a brief appearance. Some items are Portland-centric, but only because Portland is at the center of the universe. Please do not write to us, asking for the metrics behind the list. We will not provide source material. We will not be swayed. Bow down to the list. Love the list, as the list loves all things. Let the list move through you. (And, you know, if you have suggestions for the list, stick them in the comments section below.)
Conservatives are still losing their marbles over the fact that Justice Roberts, gasp, changed his mind! An action many politicians are unfamiliar with and avoid at all costs. Maybe it's because he doesn't consider himself a politician, being a Supreme Court Justice and all.
Seeing as how it's ice cream month here at wweek.com, we can't help but pimp an all-time favoriteâavailable at most Fred Meyer locations: Graeter's Black Raspberry Chip ice cream. When they say "Chip," they really mean "Huge Chunk of Grade-A Dark Chocolate From the Place That Invented Chocolate," and when they say "Black Raspberry," they really mean "Oregon-Grown, Head-Explodingly Amazing Summer Creamy Fruitiness." This stuff is so good, we can hardly manage to look at the picture on Graeter's web page without abandoning ours WW desks and running to the store to get some. We really shouldn't be telling you about it. If the freezer is empty when we get to Freddy's we're going to kill ourselves right there in the store.
Because the west side can never have too many good coffee shops, and this one is gosh dang adorable.
5. Logan's Fucking Run
Last Day is Thursday, July 5 (at Laurelhurst Theater). You'd best see this hilarious, insane sci-fi masterpiece before then.
6. Monitore Muller Thurgau
This Forest Grove winery uses a German grape that's pretty rare stateside. It's on the sweet side with some peanuty earthiness and a little bite of acid. It's a little like a caramelized Granny Smith apple.
7. This video of Japandroids playing "Fire's Highway"
Why is the video so bad and the audio so good, and why does it work so well?
