The man who allegedly stole John Wayne's gun has been identified.
According to Portland police, the suspect in last week's Movie Madness robbery is named Erick Duane Johnson. On July 24, police say Johnson, 47, walked into the Southeast Belmont video rental store -- which doubles as a movie museum, displaying own Mike Clark's impressive collection of memorabilia -- and stole a pair of famous firearms: a prop shotgun brandished by William Holden in 1969's The Wild Bunch, and a real, working rifle from the Wayne classic The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance. He then fled the scene on a dark-colored mountain bike.
Johnson, who is on parole, is described as a white male, 5-feet-7-inches tall and weighing 185 pounds, with blue eyes and is either bald or has short brown hair. His photo is in the left hand corner of this post.
A $1,000 cash reward is being offered for information leading to Johnson's arrest. Tips can be left online at Crime Stoppers of Oregon, or call (503) 823-4357.
