Future Drinking: Viridian Farms Does Cider

And more new places to eat and drink in Portland

Our weekly look at happenings in Portland's food and drink scene via OLCC liquor license applications:

Farmers Market favorite Viridian Farms has applied for a winery license at 1212 D SE Powell Blvd., which is currently Bushwhacker Cider. Viridian hasn't applied for a "change of owner" license, rather a "new outlet," but it does list Bushwhacker under "former business name." Intriguing.  

Rae's Lakeview Lounge is slated to open on Black Friday at 1900 NW 27th Ave., in the space that formerly housed Aki Pan Asian Cuisine. The Facebook page says it will be "a classic, metropolitan lounge grounded in old-Portland roots, both food and cocktails are scratch made, affordable, and approachable."

Breakside Brewery is opening a second brewpub at 5821 SE International Way in Milwaukie. 

Kiva Tea Bar & Spa, opening at 1533 NW 24th Ave., has applied for a beer and wine license.

As reported by the O last month, Gold's Gym has bought out Oregon Athletic Clubs, and thus the eateries contained within and their respective liquor licenses. Gold's has applied to change ownership of the licenses for the former Hawthorn Farm Athletic Club, Riverplace Athletic Club and Bethany Athletic Club. 

Wine Up Wine Merchants at 840 SE Alder St. has applied for an on-premises beer and wine license so it "can offer wines by the glass on Thursday and Friday evenings." 

Dustin Berkholtz appears to have been granted a full liquor license for a bar called The Strip in the former Agenda space at 2366 SE 82nd Ave. back in August, but has applied for the same change of ownership and tradename license again according to the latest list of OLCC filings.
