Give!Guide 2012

Willamette Week's annual guide to nonprofit giving

As another year comes to a close, we'd like to invite you to visit the website of Willamette Week's Give!Guide 2012 to read about, and donate to, the deserving local nonprofits featured there.

To encourage your generosity, we offer special incentives, as do many of the nonprofits. Depending on the amount of your gift, you may receive anything from a coupon good for a cup of your favorite Stumptown joe to a home-delivered package containing wine from the fine folks at A to Z Wineworks and prize-winning oatmeal from Bob’s Red Mill. See here for a more complete list.

A group of us—some employees of Willamette Week, some not—vetted nearly 250 applications to arrive at this year’s participants. As is the case every year, we were simply blown away by how much talent and energy are put into these organizations. We did not come across one unworthy applicant.

A separate group—again, some WW-ers, some outsiders—went through the dozens of nominations for Skidmore Prizes, interviewed nine finalists, then picked the four winners profiled in this guide.

The Oregon Cultural Trust has come to play a special role in our annual effort, as a number of Give!Guide participants are OCT partners. That means for every dollar you give to one of them, you can earn a dollar of tax credit by making a matching donation to the Trust.

Please go to wweek.com/giveguide today and give! You’ll earn your new citizenship badge, you’ll get great—and well-deserved—thanks, and you’ll know you’ve done your part to help make Portland a better place in which to live, work and play.
