Mayor Sam Adams delivered for the city's arts organizations earlier this month when voters approved a hybrid arts tax benefiting school kids and dozens of non-profits.

Now, the arts community is thanking him. Here's an invitation that went out this afternoon:

December is Sam's last month in office, and we will be celebrating all that he has done for creativity, education, equity and sustainability in Portland at our pARTy in the name of Art on December 7th.

With help from the local arts community, we will be sending him out with all of the creative flair and vision that he has given this fair city, and raising money for two programs that he championed during his time in office: The Right Brain Initiative and Work for Art.

Book a cab, lace up your dancing shoes and update your Instragram photo app, because you won't want to miss this one! There are two ticket options: Dance Party, $25. At 9:00 pm, join hundreds of revelers at YU Contemporary in SE Portland for a multicultural dance party, live art installations and hi-jinx. Yes, we said hi-jinx and it will be zany, too. Both floors of the historic Yale Union building will be open for unique entertainment, interactive art experiences, and a few dances with the Mayor, including salsa, electric slide, hip hop and Bollywood. Featuring DJ Prashant, DJ Evan Alexander, Poison Waters, and surprise performances throughout the evening. Come one, come all -- dance party tickets are only $25 each.

Patron Reception, $175. For a true VIP experience, come party with us a little earlier. At 6:30 pm, 400 patrons will gather for deliciously artful bites, a special Hopworks Urban Brew, and local craft cocktails. Enjoy the music of Grupo Condor while rubbing shoulders with dancers, painters and musicians. At 8:00, our patron guests will move upstairs for theatre-style seating and a cabaret tribute that our mayor will NEVER forget — as much as he may want to! The interactive farewell celebration includes Storm Large, Julianne Johnson, Bodyvox, The Circus Project, PHAME Academy, Scott Poole, the Portland Flash Choir, plus video appearances by Fred Armisen, Curious Comedy Theater, Cheryl Strayed, Darcelle, and many more. Enjoy complimentary dessert after the show, courtesy of Cupcake Jones and Salt & Straw.

Patron tickets are $175 each, and all proceeds benefit The Right Brain Initiative and Work for Art. To avoid ticket handling fees purchase your Patron tickets here. At midnight, all guests will enjoy complimentary breakfast courtesy of Burgerville as the party winds down. Feet will be sore, stomachs will be full and cabs will be plentiful. We hope you'll join us for this festive farewell party.

There's more information on our facebook page, and we'll be using hashtag #raccparty if you'd like to receive updates on Twitter. If you cannot attend, but would like to send a personal message to Sam, send him a shout out for $50 and we'll publish it in our souvenir program (deadline: Wednesday, 11/28). For more information about this event and the ongoing work of the Regional Arts & Culture Council, visit racc.org/party.

Please note: This event is entirely funded through private sector contributions; no public dollars are being used to finance this benefit.
