Chip Kelly Flip-Flops, Headed to Philly

Departing Duck Chip Kelly

After saying he was staying in Eugene, the wildly successful University of Oregon football coach, Chip Kelly, is going to take an NFL head-coaching job after all, ESPN reports. Kelly will take over as head coach of the Philadelphia Eagles, who recently fired head coach Andy Reid.

Kelly interviewed with the Eagles and Cleveland Browns after the Fiesta Bowl earlier this month but reportedly told Oregon Athletic Director Rob Mullens he would remain in Eugene. Although some observers speculated that the U of O or its donors had sweetened Kelly's contract (which pays him $3.5 million this year) to retain him, university officials told WW last week that there had been no changes made to Kelly's contract in the past 30 days.
