One of the seven wonders of the Metro area is the Oregon Liquor Control Commission's 230,000-square-foot warehouse at 9079 SE McLoughlin Blvd.

Just about every bottle of booze sold in this state—more than 2.6 million cases annually—travels through the massive warehouse, which sits just a few steps away from the now-vacant office of former OLCC director Steve Pharo.

Pharo resigned from his $138,000 a year job under pressure from Gov. John Kitzhaber last November. Interim director Merle Lindsey runs the agency for now, but the full-time position is up for grabs. That's right: The OLCC is looking for a director.

Here's the job posting—you don't necessarily get to drink any more than you already do, but the warehouse contains more than 1,660 different products, so you can at least get some ideas for off-duty pursuit. 

The Oregon Liquor Control Commission has an exceptional opportunity for an experienced leader to serve as the Board's Executive Director. The Executive Director is appointed by and shall serve at the pleasure of the five member Commission. This is a full-time, executive service position located in Milwaukie, Oregon.

Subject to general policy direction from the Commissioners, the director provides overall leadership for the agency in fulfilling its mission. This position is responsible for developing strategic direction, setting and accomplishing agency goals, overseeing all agency programs and operations, interacting with the legislature and the media, establishing partnerships with government agencies, private industry and members of the public to reduce the misuse of alcohol and increase the sale of distilled spirits.
