It's that time of year again. Well, almost.

Willamette Week is a month and a half away from announcing the winner of its annual Best New Band poll. As longtime readers know, each year we ask a who's who of Portland's music insiders to list their favorite local acts that've emerged in the past year. This year, we'd like to update that list of voters to include you—or someone you know.

For the next week, we are opening the floor—or rather, the email inbox—for suggestions on who to add to our list of voters. The only prerequisite is that all candidates should be voracious consumers of Portland music. It doesn't matter if they run a blog or help put up flyers or simply spend every night out at random house shows, trying to catch the city's next big thing before anyone else. If there's someone out there who truly knows who the Best New Band of 2013 is, we want to hear about them.

If you think you know someone who fits that description—including yourself—please send a message to Include your nominee's name and affiliation in the subject line, and in the body, a brief explanation for why they should receive a BNB ballot. Be sure to include the best email at which to contact the nominee. You can nominate as many people as you'd like, but please send a separate email for each. All entries must be received by next Monday, March 18. Please direct any questions to

We look forward to hearing from you! And now, enjoy this cover of Astrud Gilberto's "Fly Me to the Moon" by last year's Best New Band winner, Radiation City!
