UPDATE: WW inaccurately reported that the Portland Police Association sold a building for $945,000. The owner of the building at 706 SE Sixth Ave. was the Portland Police Athletic Association, a separate entity. WW regrets the error.

The Portland Police Athletic Association has sold the building where its members and retirees could drink without being bothered by common riff raff.

The members-only Portland Police Athletic Association bar, recently reviewed by WW's Sgt. Brian O’Naughtington, closed March 1 when the $945,000 sale was finished.

Property records list the new owners as Salome LLC. Reached by phone, new owner Tom Biggs says that his two sons are planning to redevelop the space at 706 SE Sixth Ave.

He says the former favored hangout of PPA members had an odd feeling.

"There was sort of strange feel to it," Biggs says. "It was strange going through there after the fact."

What the old PPAA will house is "pure speculation" at this point, Biggs says.
