Rudy Crew Is a Finalist to Lead Medgar Evers College: Updated

Rudy Crew—the high-profile education czar Gov. John Kitzhaber hired last year to implement Oregon's ambitious education reforms—already has his eye on the exit. 

Kitzhaber hired Crew in 2012 to be the state's first ever chief education officer. Crew's three-year contract pays him $280,000 annually. 

But last week, the City University of New York, which serves 269,000 students, reported that Crew was one of three finalists to lead Medgar Evers College.

Kitzhaber's spokesman, Tim Rapahel, says the governor is aware that Crew is a candidate for the New York job and issued the following statement:
