Kitzhaber's Salary Near the Bottom of Gubernatorial Scale

Former Gov. John Kitzhaber

Gov. John Kitzhaber makes a lot less than most of his peers.

This week, the Council of State Governments released salary data for all 50 governors and Stateline, part of the Pew Center loaded the numbers into an interactive map.

The average governor makes $133,348. That's 42 percent more than Kitzhaber's salary of $93,600. Only Gov. Paul LePage of Maine, whose salary is $70,000 and Arkansas Gov. Mike Beebe, $86,890, and Colorado Gov. John Hickenlooper, $90,000, make less than Kitzhaber.
