Portland Police say they arrested Houston Rockets forward and former Jefferson High School star Terrance A. Jones early this morning for stomping on a homeless man's leg.

Police say a sergeant patrolling the area saw a large group of people leave the Tube nightclub, spilling out onto the street. One officer ordered the group back onto the sidewalk, a release from the Portland Police Bureau says.

But the first sergeant watched them go, and Jones, who was recently profiled in The Oregonian, was spotted allegedly stomping on a homeless man in the doorway of 114 NW 3rd Ave.

"While watching the group walk away from the bar, the sergeant observed a man, later identified as Terrence Jones, walk by a doorway where two homeless men were sleeping," the release says. "Jones yelled, 'wake up,' then raised his leg and stomped down on one of the mens' legs."

Jones, 21, was arrested about a half block away, walking with a group of about eight people, police say.

The victim, 46-year-old Daniel John Kellerher, received a minor leg injury and did not require immediate medical attention.

Jones was transported to Central Precinct then to the Multnomah County jail on a charge of harassment. Cops say they found out Jones is in the NBA after the arrest.
