Portland Water Bureau Warns of Water Theft

Forget gas siphoning—there's a new wave of scofflaws hosing off another valuable resource: your water.

The Portland Water Bureau issued a warning Wednesday warning of the dangers of exposed exterior water spigots. It says the culprits are usually squatters and adds senior citizens are often targets.

Tim Hall, spokesman for the water bureau tells WW he received a call from a woman who spotted people stealing water from a foreclosed and empty home. By the time the woman called police, the thieves had already left, he says.
