Wall Street Journal Identifies Oregon Sites of Nuclear Contamination

The Wall Street Journal recently published a fascinating, depressing investigation of sites contaminated by nuclear contamination. The article includes a searchable map identifying the location of known contaminated sites.

The good news: none of them is in Portland.

In terms of number of contaminated sites, Oregon is in the middle of the pack with four but the number of sites does not correlate to the amount of contamination: Washington has just two identified sites, for instance, but one of them, the Hanford Reservation, is the biggest current clean-up site in the nation.
