Fertile Ground Diaries: Therapy Hunger

Therapy Hunger
Post5 Theatre's

The 40-minute show, presented as part of the annual Fertile Ground festival, is emotionally intense, and for the last third we see doctors’ prescription forms scattered on the floor as the drugged-up characters sluggishly circle the stage and dance interpretively to low-pitched drumbeats. It’s clear from the start that Boice is voicing a strong and negative opinion about the potential harm of psychiatric drugs. It’s a message that Therapy Hunger thoroughly conveys, even if the closing choreography can be a bit heavy-handed—perhaps mimicking the numbing effect of the drugs themselves.

GO: Therapy Hunger is at 850 NE 81st Ave., 971-258-8584. 9:30 pm Thursday-Saturday and 2 pm Sunday, Jan. 30-Feb. 2. $10. More info here.
