Portland's Best Dance Music Options, March 13-19

Flight is Thursday at the Rose.

In this new column, WW music calendar and contributing writer Mitch Lillie helps the discerning club-goer put together their weekly calendar by compiling Portland's best dance-music options for the next seven days. Turn up, tune in, drop the bass.

— I called Beyonda an artist to watch in 2014, so go ahead and watch her. Though she’s got talents beyond being simply a soul DJ, her elbow-deep cuts and masterful selection make every second Thursday at Holocene special. Don’t you just know it? (8 pm, $3, 21+)

— For all Simon Posford’s gifts of producing and DJing freak-psych-trance-hop, his real gift is that of marketing. Shpongle shows are no mere concerts, they are events “presented” by Posford, briefly prepackaged forays into county Black Rock. His 2014 tour presents the Shpongletron 3.0, a sculpture of crystals and eyeballs with trip-enhancing visuals projected thither. It’s $22 for Saturday’s show at the Roseland, but you’re already dropping at least that much on drugs anyway. (8:30 pm, $22, all ages)

— As the ambient Ethernet, Tim Gray won over the hearts of the experimental scene, both at home and nationally. But as Tanuki House, he shows that he’s got more astringent tastes. He’ll debut his live set of four-on-the-floor on Saturday at the Rose, with tastes ranging from acid house to dub techno. (9 pm, $5, 21+)
