Your Weekly Callahan

Part 3: "I couldn't feel my ass"

In this third clip from an award-winning film about cartoonist John Callahan, he describes the event at the age of 21 that put him in a wheelchair for the rest of his life. It's a life that ended in 2010, but not before his work, which at its height was syndicated in more than 200 newspapers, earned Callahan international acclaim for its dark humor.

We're publishing these clips (with the kind permission of director Simone de Vries) from the 2007 documentary Touch Me Someplace I Can Feel to call attention to the effort to build a memorial to Callahan on a Northwest Portland site donated by Legacy Good Samaritan Hospital.
