Emilio Hoffman was shot dead last week by a classmate at Reynolds High School in Troutdale, but the 14-year-old boy's mother says she doesn't blame the killer's family.
"One life was taken and one life was lost, and I don't feel anger towards them," Jennifer Hoffman tells KATU-TV, in an interview that will air tonight on the 5 p.m. newscast of WW's news partner.
Hoffman invited KATU reporter Hillary Lake into her home to discuss her son and how her family is coping with the loss.
She says at some point—once she can better handle the pain and knows what to say—she hopes to meet the family of her son's killer, a 15-year-old who took his own life after killing Hoffman and wounding a teacher.
For now, she's grateful for the support pouring in. "The community has been amazing," she says. "Amazing isn't even the word because it's so much more than amazing."
