Get Out of Multnomah County Jail Free: 26 Releases on Saturday Night

Saturday night's alright for fighting. Turns out it's also not a bad time to get out of jail free.

Continuing a trend that re-emerged last summer after a 15-month lull, the Multnomah County Sheriff's Office was forced to release 26 prisoners from jail over the weekend because there wasn't enough space to hold them.

Here's a breakdown of the charges that the 19 men and seven women released were originally booked for:

Overall, the number of so-called "emergency releases" has been going down each month since they began again in June. But that trend has now reveresed given Saturday night's big numbers.
