House GOP Leader's Invitation Turns Back The Clock

Give House Minority Leader Bruce Hanna (R-Roseburg) this much—at least he didn't address the female lobbyists he invited to a $500-a-head Portland fundraiser as "gals."

But the invitation [PDF] Hanna sent out today for his Oct. 20 event begins with the salutation "Hey girls" which bemused some recipients.

Tired of all these "man-events"?
Golf, gun clubs, whiskey tastings, or more golf?
How about something a little more feminine?

"He puts both the 'grand' and 'old' in GOP with this invite," says one lobbyist.

Hanna's spokesman, Nick Smith, says he has not received any negative feedback on the "hey girls," salutation. Told that some recipients considered the communication old-fashinoned, Smith said, "I had not heard that. That's interesting."
