Metro Chief Operating Officer Michael Jordan has "regretfully"
filed [PDF] a "formal notice of termination" with the group hired to develop a "headquarters hotel" adjacent to Metro's Oregon Convention Center.
This notice on Tuesday formalizes what elected officials had already
concluded. But like dandelions, kudzu and Freddy Krueger, the proposed hotel —which has been in some stage of planning for the 20 years since former Mayor Bud Clark put the convention center in the middle of a dead zone on the east side— will probably come back some day.
