TriMet announced this morning it's boosting security on public transit in response to
the Sept. 19 arrests of two Denver men allegedly involved in a terrorist plot to set off explosives in the New York City subway system.
Local transit officials say to expect police randomly boarding MAX trains and buses, and to be present at various stops and platforms.
To be clear, there are no reports of an immediate threat of terrorist activity in Portland. But TriMet says its move comes in response to federal transportation officials asking all transit providers to be vigilant in their security efforts and to report suspicious activity or packages.
