Mayor Sam Adams
headed to Canada
yesterday to attend the Ontario Bike Summit
and a green-building conference
in Toronto. He'll be in Washington, D.C., on Thursday and Friday for the U.S. Conference of Mayors
fall leadership meeting.
The mayor's travel companions to Canada include executives from Gerding Edlen, which just got a $3.2 million city subsidy for its new Vestas project in the Pearl, Glumac, Zimmer Gunsul Frasca, McKinstry, RDH, Green Building Services and Columbia Green Technologies.
The mayor's office says the Share the Road Cycling Coalition of Ontario and the Port of Portland paid for Adams' trip as well as that of a staffer, Catherine Ciarlo, the mayor's transportation director.
Announcing the trip in a press release this morning, Adams' spokesman Roy Kaufmann wrote:
"This trip also provides an opportunity for Mayor Adams to export Portland's leadership in active transportation planning."
