Timothy Hutton's son was born Sept. 11, 2001, or so he informed a
Leverage fan—who'd asked a different question altogether—last night in a ballroom at the Hotel deLuxe, where
the season premiere of Hutton's TNT con-artists-do-good show was screened for about 100 adoring fans and a handful of journalists.
Hutton made a late visit to the second of two "invite-only" screenings, delayed by picking up his 7-year-old son at the airport. Though he was clearly finding it difficult to get the boy out of his head,
the Oscar-winning actor took a dozen questions and signed three times as many autographs. The show's supporting cast was on hand to break the ice when necessary, with a cache of witty quips and fond words about Portland, where production of
Leverage moved for its second season. (The town stands in for Boston.)
Last night's event was the swank, official kickoff of
Leverage's season two; when the first episode premieres on TNT next Wednesday, July 15, all the Portland little people—the crew and extras who made Stumptown look like Beantown—will be found at the
Morrison Hotel for the first of weekly
Leverage Watching Parties.

WW's review of
Leverage in next week's issue.
