Randy Leonard Says City Is Now Exploring The Possibility of A Third Site for Baseball

news10

Commissioner Randy Leonard pledged last week to vote no on his resolution [PDF] committing the city to go forward with Merritt Paulson, owner of the Portland Timbers soccer team and Beavers baseball team, following Paulson's decision to withdraw his proposal for building a new minor league baseball stadium in Lents.

The deal, which officially divorces the revamping of PGE Park for Major League Soccer from the baseball stadium deal, is up for review at City Hall on Wednesday.

But Leonard tells WW today that he still wants to keep the Beavers in Portland. And although opponents have successfully shot down attempts to put the new stadium in the Rose Quarter and Lents, Leonard says he's now asked the Portland Development Commission to review the possibility of finding a third site somewhere for baseball in Portland. As ever, stay tuned.
