We got the call about this genius idea way too late to squeeze into the print newspaper, so our lucky blog readers will reap the benefits.
Gregg Abbott, owner of the ridiculously addictive
Whiffie's Fried Pies (I've got a tasty profile of his sweet 'n savory cart in tomorrow's issue of
WW, check it out) just called to let us know that
he and Potato Champion's Mike McKinnon have a special offer for World Naked Bike Ride participants late night this Saturday, June 13.
The two carts are
giving away 50 free small cones of fries and 50 free sweet pies to the first 100 bikers who make it to their Southeast Hawthorne and 12th Avenue food cart pod after the WNBR late Saturday night very, very early Sunday morning—one goodie per person, first come first serve.
"You must have your bike and be naked," stresses Abbott. "I just want to make sure people are with the ride. I mean, if you pull up in a Volvo I'm gonna say 'put your clothes back on, man.'"
Potato Champion and Whiffie's Fried Pies are located at the corner of Southeast Hawthorne Boulevard and 12th Avenue. Both carts open 8 pm-3 am.
The World Naked Bike Ride starts off at 2181 NW Nicolai St. 11:59 pm Saturday, June 13. Free. All ages. Visit shift2bikes.org/cal/viewpp2009.php for more info.
