Sure,
last night's Tony Awards showcased
the many talents of Neil Patrick Harris and
accidental bludgeoning of Bret Michaels, but tonight
Portland's own Drammy Awards bring the glitz home with the comedic stylings of MCs Maureen Porter and Philip Cuomo (pictured).
The Drammys, which began in 1979 in the pages of this newspaper as the unfortunately named Willies, recognize outstanding achievement in Portland theater as determined by a board of 16 volunteers who between them see
over 120 shows per year (full disclosure: I'm one of them).
The ceremony, which is always a drunken good time and always
slightly too long, begins at 7 pm tonight at
McMenamins Crystal Ballroom at 1332 W Burnside St.
Admission is free, and all ages are welcome.
