JUICY SUITS: Cosmetic-Surgery Clinic Fights Back Against John Doe

Aesthetic Medicine, a cosmetic-surgery clinic in Tigard, is suing a defendant it lists only as "John Doe" for allegedly trash-talking the clinic to potential clients.

According to a lawsuit filed last month in Multnomah County Circuit Court, a prospective patient the suit calls "Jane Doe" contacted the clinic and said she, her sister and four of her friends were interested in becoming patients. The Aug. 6 lawsuit doesn't say what kind of treatment they were seeking.

But, according to the suit, Jane Doe and her friends heard a rumor from "John Doe" about "an alleged unexpected outcome following a procedure performed by one of the physicians at Aesthetic Medicine." The suit says the rumor was meant to dissuade them from becoming patients.

The suit, filed by Portland lawyer Kennedy Luvai, seeks $100,000 in damages, plus attorney fees. "Upon discovery of defendant's true identity, Aesthetic Medicine will amend this pleading to substitute his or her true or legal name," the lawsuit says.
