Republicans Find A Candidate For Peter DeFazio's Congressional Seat (UPDATED with DeFazio reaction)

U.S. Rep. Peter DeFazio — the Lane County Democrat who's the senior member of Oregon's House delegation — doesn't know yet if he'll run for governor next year.

But regardless of whether he runs for governor or a 13th term in Congress, the Republicans have somebody ready to go for the congressional seat, Springfield Mayor Sid Leiken — according to this report in Capitol Hill's Roll Call.



Apparently, Leiken knows about Twitter.

UPDATE: DeFazio, a Springfield resident, doesn't seem to be quaking at news of Leiken's candidacy. In a news release, he said, “Sid is a nice guy and a step up from the Republican's last highly touted recruit. I look forward to him continuing his good service as my hometown mayor for the next four years.”
