If you were a fan of Portland radio icon
Les Sarnoff, mark your calendar for Sunday, May 17. That's when a public celebration of Sarnoff's life will take place in Pioneer Courthouse Square at 5 p.m.
Sarnoff, the longtime radio personality for KINK Radio 101.9 FM, died last Friday at 60. Sarnoff is best known for hosting a morning show, but also was a champion for many local, non-propfit and volunteer causes.
Sarnoff was diagonosed with melanoma last April and kept his fans informed about his battle through his
blog at KINK. Always optimistic, Sarnoff's final blog post was entitled "Brace for a Miracle."
"There is perhaps no single person more closely associated with any radio station than Les is with KINK,” KINK.FM General Manager Dave McDonald said in a news release. “His professional contributions over his 30-year association with the station are inestimable. "
