open house on tearing down the Memorial Coliseum, you know that much of the discussion about razing the coliseum to make room for a new minor-league baseball stadium has turned on how outdated the 49-year-old coliseum is.
Some folks are using the
coliseum's architectural history as a worthy reason to save it. And certainly the building also has plenty of sports
history to
draw upon. But here are a couple more modern-day
instances where the coliseum has proven
more valuable than an afterthought home for Portland Winter Hawks games.
