The official announcement from Major League Soccer hasn't been made yet, but it appears Merritt Paulson may be getting his new business in order already.
WW has learned Mike Golub,
a senior advisor for Vulcan Sports & Entertainment, a sister company of Paul Allen's Trail Blazers franchise, is under consideration for a new gig as the general manager for Merritt Paulson's Major League Soccer franchise. That's of course assuming Paulson
gets one on Friday.
Golub, pictured above on the left, led the financial turnaround at the Blazers before he was shifted to its sister company. He also
worked for the Memphis Grizzlies, the NHL's
New York Rangers and Nike. He is a member of the Oregon Sports Authority
board of directors with Paulson. Random fact: He was also a classmate of
Tim Geithner, Dartmouth College '83, who followed Paulson's father as treasury secretary.
Golub could not be reached immediately for comment.
