The sun has made its first tentative appearances in the sky, and in another ritual of the turning of the seasons, the Save the Dates and perfumed invitations have started arriving. Yes, friends, that's right—wedding season is just around the corner and brides are roaming the streets, wailing "Braaaaaains, braaaaaains!"
Oh wait, those are zombies, not brides! Whew.
But, as every Portlander knows, weddings don't have to be frenzied displays of crass consumerism. Weddings should be about celebrating the unique love between two unique people, with their own unique style. And hopefully, planned with some common sense and credit cards with spending limits. In that spirit, AlexSandra's Vintage Emporium
and Ava Hansen Millinery
are sponsoring the 2009 Vintage Bridal Show
on Saturday, March 14th, from 1-6 pm at the Overlook House (3839 N Melrose Drive).
Show exhibitors will include not only vintage gowns from AlexSandra's and vintage hats from Ava Hansen, but also hair and makeup specialists, calligrapher and event decorators, a florist, and an "alternative wedding cake specialist" (not entirely sure what a great alternative wedding cake could be, but I am optimistic). Models in vintage wedding clothing will be walking the show through the afternoon, so you can see your potential gown in motion.
