Your Federal Stimulus Money At Work: TriMet Will Keep Your Bike Safe...Partially

Beaverton TC Sheet Set 3

Here's a move that should make TriMet-riding bicyclists happy at a time when many TriMet users are unhappy over proposed service cuts.

TriMet announced today it will build new bike lockers and renovate some older ones with $1 million in federal stimulus money.

On the to-do list:

-Building 250 new lockers at the Beaverton and Sunset transit centers.

-Replacing 100 lockers in the Central Business District, and testing an electronic locker system “which allow multiple riders to use them on any given day.”

No word yet on how bicyclists who commute or live in other areas will keep their bike secure from the sticky fingered Portlanders who cannot live without the front tire or seat from your bike…
