Driving in a winter wonderland…


As commuters slip and slide around Portland's streets, TriMet reports about 20 minor fender-benders involving its vehicles — none of which required emergency responders.

The total cost for these fender-benders has not been calculated, says TriMet spokeswoman Peggy LaPoint. But the true victims of this recent stretch of Palinesque Alaskan weather?

“We've had lots of broken chains,” says LaPoint. No exact figure is available for the number of broken bus chains.
