Just about every month, your utility includes written information in your bill that's designed to make you a better-informed ratepayer.
In July, NW Natural
, the local gas utility, presented its customers information about Liquified Natural Gas. For the past couple of years, NW Natural has been a strong proponent of siting an LNG terminal
on the Columbia River, to diversify its supply sources.
Most environmental groups and many elected officials oppose LNG, although the voice that matters most, the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, seems amenable to them.
Anyway, today the Oregon Wildlife Federation
presented NW Natural a flyer
(PDF) containing information the group wished NW Natural had included in its July mailer.
Of perhaps greater concern to LNG backers might be the appointment
earlier this week by incoming Attorney General John Kroger of Brent Foster, the leading critic of LNG, as Kroger's environmental counsel.
