The
Portland Trail Blazers, City Commissioner
Nick Fish and
Mississippi Studios are among the big names pouring money into the race for a
Multnomah County Board of Commissioners seat representing North and Northeast Portland.
The latest round of
campaign finance disclosures shows candidate
Loretta Smith collecting $500 from Fish and $1,000 from the Trail Blazers.
As previously
reported in
WW, Smith—an aide to U.S. Sen.
Ron Wyden (D-Ore.)—also remains the favorite candidate of trade unions. This week she reported an additional $1,500 contribution from the
Local 48 Electricians.
Meanwhile Smith's opponent in the race,
Karol Collymore,
claims a $370 contribution from Mississippi Productions Inc. A
co-owner of that company, Jim Brunberg, is also listed as the
manager of Mississippi Studios LLC, which owns the iconic North Portland music venue of the same name.
