If you were wondering when the gun lobby would respond to
Mayor Sam Adams' new
effort to curb illegal firearms in
Portland, wait no longer.
As noted by
KATU over the weekend, the
Oregon Firearms Federation has, unsurprisingly, come out in strong opposition to Adams' five-point gun-control plan.
The written announcement on the OFF's response gets personal, calling Adams a "disgraced mayor" and "self-admitted liar" for
covering up his 2005 relationship with former legislative intern
Beau Breedlove.
The gun group even compares Adams to former Gov.
Neil Goldschmidt, whom the group calls "a mentor to anti-gun extremist [state Sen.] Ginny Burdick [D-Portland]."
"We think it's safe to say that this latest PR stunt will backfire, just like everything else this sorry, freedom-hating loser [Adams] has done," the group says on its website. "But anything can happen in Portland.
So keep your powder dry."
