With the days until the Nov. 2 election dwindling, campaign signs for
Oregon's gubernatorial candidates are sprouting up all over the state. But in at least one case in
Portland, those signs are being ripped down by vandals.
Wendy Temko, a southwest Portland resident, said today that the four-foot-by-eight-foot campaign sign she put up a week ago for Democratic candidate
John Kitzhaber has disappeared. She says someone neatly cut and removed the sign from in between its two wooden posts outside her house on Southwest Barbur Boulevard. (The before and after are in the photo above.)
"
The sign had been in a highly visible place," Temko wrote in an email, "so to us, this is very disturbing - and it indicates that there are some quite unethical people out there."
