Seeking an antidote for post-election blues or for any doubts you may develop about the validity of next Tuesday's election results?
Look no further: Secretary of State Bill Bradbury and the state election officials who report to him will organize a random
hand-recount of county election results, starting on Wednesday Nov. 5 at 9:30 am at the Public Service Building in Salem. (Note: the release from the SOS says the counties recounted will be chosen on Tuesday but the right day is Wednesday).
The recounts, the result of a 2007
law sponsored by state Rep. Mitch Greenlick (D-SW Portland), are designed to serve as a check on the electronic ballot-counting machines which have generated mistrust and
controversy in other states.
