Update on Oregonian Buyouts

Tags: media
Here's an update to last week's Murmur about Oregonian columnist David Reinhard considering the buyout offered by the paper to veteran staffers of pay and health benefits for two years.
He's definitely taking it.
And here are some other notable names trickling out of The Oregonian newsroom as buyout takers: Michael Arrieta-Walden , one of the paper's two managing editors; veteran reporters Dave Hogan (politics), Gail Kinsey Hill (energy) and Tony Green (courts).

Arrieta-Walden is leaving to pursue a longtime dream of becoming a public schoolteacher.

And another buyout taker, longtime reporter Wade Nkrumah, already has his next job lined up: Starting in January when Sam Adams becomes mayor, Nkrumah will be Adams' communications director at $80,000 a year.
