Maria Boyer,
WW' s go-to-gal for all things Greek, has this to say about the
upcoming Greek Festival :
"If you've never been, it's incredible!" or as my boss says, "It's crazy"!" said Maria about the big party that will take place at Northeast 32nd Avenue and Glisan Street all day Friday, Saturday and Sunday (according to Maria though "they start to run out of stuff on Sunday").
Here are her recommendations (which she says might be overlooked):
lamb on the spit ( "though it's iffy timing it right, so you can get a serving when it's ready to be carved."
The spanakopita and
the new museum and culture center inside on the second floor. Maria also recommends the
non-baklava type pastries ,
the sit-down dinners inside and the
interior of the church ("don't miss it"). There are frequent presentations or you can just tour on your own or you can go to a service: vespers every evening at 6 pm, matins at 9 am and liturgy at 10 am Sunday. Opa!
