Public Campaign Financing Kick-Off Party

Ben Cannon

The campaign to keep Portland's 2005 "voter-owned elections" kicks off Saturday in North Portland.

The location for the 10 am rally is Dawson City Park, at the corner of North Williams Ave and Stanton Street.

Rep. Ben Cannon (D-Portland), whom WW recently named the "best politician money cannot buy" will be there. You can bet Commissioner Amanda Fritz will be there as well.

Amanda Fritz

Proponents of keeping publicly financed campaigns for Portland City Hall candidates had raised more than $75,000 as of last week. Their opponents, Portlanders Against Taxpayer-Funded Political Campaigns, have so far reported no contributions.
