Trailer of the Week: Vaux's Swift doc On the Wing

For the last decade-and-a-half, audiences at Chapman Elementary have borne witness to a sublime evening performance by urban fauna—the autumnal roosting in the school's chimney of Chaetura vauxi, better known as Vaux's swift. Now, local adman Dan Viens has captured the avian phenomenon and the people who love it, in a documentary titled On the Wing.

On the Wing premieres Oct. 2, 7 pm at Cinema 21 (one night only), with proceeds benefiting the Audubon Society of Portland.
