For business owners in the restaurant/hospitality industry: If you need restaurant supplies, don't try to buy anything from Galasource
, a nationwide Internet-based company out of Denver.
According to the Better Business Bureau, Galasource appears to be closed, but has still been taking orders, yet not fulfilling them, leaving many businesses hanging out to dry. Its website was fully functional as late as yesterday, "posing a risk for further loss from unsuspecting business owners," says Jean Herman, BBB Denver/Boulder president and CEO. A company in North Carolina is still waiting for restaurant equipment that has not arrived, which it purchased from Galasource in full for $13,870, and a company in Washington also waits for a credit of $3,387 from the firm. The BBB reports that 11 of the 15 complaints Galasource has received in 2008 have originated since June 1.
Today, Galasource's website
reads, "This website is not active and is not taking orders at this time." The BBB suspended the firm's accreditation, and reports the business as "unsatisfactory."
