, the man behind beloved Portland ice cream operation (and former cart) Junior Ambassador's
needs your help in order to create a truly ambitious meal: a seven-course Holiday Ice Cream Feast, including everything from Deviled egg n' bacon ice cream to "Turkey Ice Cream, Yam & Marshmallow Ice Cream, Cranberry Ice Cream, Dark Chocolate Gravy, Stuffing Sprinkles."
Yep. Speerschneider is presenting the idea for the feast as part of this month's Portland Stock event, this Sunday at PNCA.
is, cue press release, "a public dinner event and presentation series which uses direct democracy to fund artist projects. Diners pay a modest $10 for a meal of homemade soup and other local delicacies, and the chance discuss and vote on which artist proposal will receive the evening's proceeds. The dinner's profits immediately become the artist grant, which is awarded according to the choice of the diners.
Winning artists will present their completed work at the following Stock dinner." Cool eh?
Speerschneider, whose cart was Eat Mobile 2009's judges choice winner
and is currently churning his ice weirdness at North Mississippi Avenue haunt the Liberty Glass
, explains his expansive proposal in his own unique Mostlandian way:
...There are very few opportunities for us humans, in our busy terrestrial, fleeting lives to have any real profound sit down time, with a large group of people and contemplate the Universe Ice Cream. We tend to think that the Universe Ice Cream is too big to fathom and put into a concept or form easy enough to swallow. Spectacularly, a crucial marvel of the heavens can be made palpable, sweet, savory & yummy to eat in your lifetime, when aligned with your star (vote).
Ingredients / Menu for the "The Holiday Ice Cream Feast" will go something like this...
~Deviled Egg & Bacon Ice Cream
~Spicy Egg Nog Ice Cream
~Curried Butternut Squash Soup Ice Cream
~Waldorf Salad Ice Cream
~Turkey Ice Cream, Yam & Marshmallow Ice Cream, Cranberry Ice Cream, Dark Chocolate Gravy, Stuffing Sprinkles
~Gingered Rumball Ice Cream
~Pecan Pie & Ice Cream Ice Cream
( I'm not joking...all of this will be good to eat, with all-natural, local ingredients, and some non-dairy options)
See attachment for visual explanation.
