Could
Nicole J. Georges be any cuter? Possibly, but highly unlikely.
This spectacle-wearing illustrator (she hand-draws unicorn-themed comics and fliers for all sorts of PDX events), zine-maker and animal-loving “pet portraitist extraordinaire” (my Chichi could be drawn wearing a crown or a wig and be winking!) will release
Invincible Summer: An Anthology Vol. 2, her latest zine issue, on First Thursday (May 1st). Check out
NicoleJGeorges.com and
NicoleJGeorges.blogspot.com for more or scroll down for a peek at her work.
She also just recently popped into the Dirty Apple with her
Sister Spit homegirls and gave an adorable interview to NYC's
Queerty.
At the First Thursday event, you can go collect back issues, ask how her disabled retiree neighbors are faring or order a custom-created sock monkey (all topics mentioned on her
blog). Other NJG attributes include having dreams about Obama and the Muppet Babies (same dream), training to be a "homorobics" instructor (spontaneous interpretive dances to
Titanic soundtrack in your striped cotton thigh-highs!) and crafting more quirky-fab art. But has she crocheted a zebra with a mouth bubble reading, “Tell that trifling bitch she can have you”? Yes, she has. So there.
Nicole J. Georges appears at Reading Frenzy, 921 SW Oak St., 274-1449. 6 pm-9 pm Thursday, May 1. Free.
