On the March 21 edition of HBO's
Real Time with Bill Maher, Rep. Barney Frank (D-Mass.) said he was about to introduce legislation in Congress to make it
okey-dokey to carry around small amounts of marijuana.
Said Frank to Maher when pushed on how he would get it through Congress: "The notion that you lock people up for smoking marijuana is pretty silly. I'm going to call it the
'Make Room for Serious Criminals' bill."
It made me think that the gay, ganja-loving Congressman might just be planning another trip to weed-friendly Oregon.
And guess what? I'm right. Well, sort of.
"An Evening with Rep. Barney Frank" will take place at the home of gay powerbroker
Terry Bean on April 18.
Mr. Bean's swell soiree is not for open-minded drug legislation, though.
Rather it's a $100-a-person fundraiser in support of City Council candidat
e Nick Fish.
Fish and Frank go way back. Shortly after graduation from Harvard in 1981, Fish went to work as a legislative aide for Frank in Washington D.C., and they've stayed friends ever since.
No word if they've ever shared a bowl, though.
